When it comes to things I enjoy photographing, weddings are generally not near the top of the list. They tend to be high-pressure and usually involve one to five unruly family members with oversized telephoto lenses that make the job more challenging than it should be. For this reason, I’ve had a strict “friends and family only” policy (because my theory is that unruly family members are easier to deal with when they are your own). So when I learned earlier this year that my little brother was planning on getting married, I jumped at the opportunity to skip the gift registry and give him and his fiance a set of photographs instead. It was a beautiful day and I’m glad I had a camera in my hands… because you can’t ugly-cry when you’ve got a job to do!
